Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about chartering a boat in Ibiza and Formentera. From pricing and licences to what happens on the day — answered by our team of local experts.

Choosing Your Boat

RIBs are ideal for small, active groups who want speed and flexibility. Motorboats suit groups looking for comfort on day trips. Catamarans offer the most deck space and stability — ideal for those who want a relaxed day on the water. Yachts are best when you want a premium crewed experience. Sailboats offer a slower, more relaxed pace and can also be chartered bareboat for licensed sailors. For larger groups and private events we have options outside the standard fleet — see our events page. Contact our team for a personal recommendation — message us on WhatsApp for a quick response or fill in our Personalise Your Charter form and we'll come back with options.

Capacity varies by boat and depends on whether a skipper is included. Most RIBs carry up to 11–12 guests. Motorboats generally take 11 guests plus skipper, with some larger models taking 12 plus skipper or crew. Yachts are similar — up to 11–12 guests plus crew depending on the boat. Catamarans follow the same range, with one larger option for bigger groups. For groups of 20–40 guests we have dedicated vessels on our events page. Always check the individual boat page for exact figures.

Booking Process

There are a few ways to get started. If you know the boat you want, select your dates and options on the boat page and submit a booking request — our team will review everything and send a confirmation with full details, including payment links and options. If you're not sure which boat suits your group, fill in the Personalise Your Charter form on the homepage and we'll plan the right trip for you. You can also send us a WhatsApp with your group size, dates and any preferences and we'll come back with options.

We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance during peak season (June–September). For July and August, earlier is always better. Outside peak season, shorter lead times are often possible.

Your preferred dates, number of guests, and any specific requirements. For confirmed bookings we will also ask for passport details and a departure address in Ibiza.

Practical Information

Not if you hire with a skipper — which is included on most of our boats. For bareboat hire (where you take the helm), you will need a recognised boating licence such as a PER (Spain), ICC, or equivalent. If you are unsure, contact us and we will advise based on the specific boat.

Just yourselves and a smile. If you are bareboat chartering, the lead charterer must bring their boating licence. Full requirements are confirmed in your booking documentation.

Yes — Formentera is one of the most popular day-trip destinations from Ibiza. The crossing from Ibiza Town takes around 35 minutes by fast RIB or motorboat, 45–60 minutes by yacht, and around 1.5 hours by sailboat or catamaran. Confirm with our team when booking.

On the Day

Start times are flexible — most charters depart from around 09:30 onwards depending on the boat and marina. Your confirmation will include the agreed departure time and meeting point. Please try to arrive 10–15 minutes before departure to complete check-in formalities and the skipper briefing.

Boats depart from one of the marinas in Ibiza Town, Santa Eulalia or San Antonio. Your exact marina and berth details are confirmed ahead of your departure date.

Sun protection, swimwear, and any personal items you need for the day. Some boats include snorkelling equipment and water toys — check your boat page for details. Food and drinks can be arranged in advance.

Pricing & Extras

Prices range from around €500 per day for smaller RIBs to €12,000 or more for luxury yachts. Most mid-range motorboats and catamarans fall between €1,500 and €4,000 per day. All prices include VAT at 21%.

The charter price includes the boat, skipper where specified, basic safety equipment, standard insurance, and on most boats courtesy drinks, ice and towels. Some boats also include water toys. Check the individual boat page for the full list of inclusions. Fuel, food, additional drinks and optional extras such as Seabobs or paddleboards may be charged separately.

Yes. Many boats offer optional extras such as Seabobs, stand-up paddleboards, catering packs and premium drink packages. These can be selected during the booking process or requested directly.

Fuel is generally not included in the charter price unless specified otherwise. Costs depend on boat type, speed and route — as a rough guide: RIBs and smaller motorboats typically cost €90–€200 for a day; motorboats and open cruisers €200–€400; larger yachts vary considerably depending on size. Fuel is charged at cost based on actual usage at the end of the charter. Each boat page also shows estimated fuel costs by route to help you plan.

Changes & Cancellations

Date changes are subject to availability. Each boat has its own terms and conditions which vary by charter type and length — these are set out on the individual boat page and included in your booking confirmation. Contact our team as early as possible and we will do our best to accommodate the change.

Cancellation terms vary by boat and charter type and are set out in full in your booking confirmation. As a general rule, cancellations close to the departure date may result in partial or full loss of payment. No-shows are treated as a full cancellation and any payments made are non-refundable. Full terms are confirmed at the time of booking.

If sea conditions make it unsafe to depart, we will always work with you to reschedule or offer a refund. We take a practical approach — if the weather is going to make for a poor day on the water, we will do our best to find a solution. If you choose to cancel based on forecast alone without the captain confirming unsafe conditions, standard cancellation terms apply.
